Biosecurity for Beekeepers
The Biosecurity for Beekeepers Course is an initiative of the Australian Honey Bee Industry Council (AHBIC) and Plant Health Australia with assistance from Australia’s Bee Biosecurity Officers and original funding from Agrifutures Australia.
Course Outline
This FREE course is designed for people who have a basic understanding of beekeeping practices and who would like to learn more about protecting their bees from pests and diseases.
It provides information about keeping honey bees healthy, looking for exotic and endemic pests and diseases and some measures that can be used to protect apiaries. It is NOT designed to instruct new beekeepers on how to keep bees.
The course supports the Australian Honey Bee Industry Biosecurity Code of Practice and is one way to meet the training requirements of the Code.
All beekeepers are encouraged to complete the course.
The course is FREE for beekeepers based in Australia, thanks to funding from AHBIC and the Australian state and territory governments.
