Port Lincoln Beekeeping Workshop

Port Lincoln will be hosting a beekeeping workshop on Sunday 1st March 2020 for new and smaller beekeepers in Port Lincoln and the surrounding areas.

The event will be held in Port Lincoln with the address provided to registered attendees immediately prior to the event.

Speakers will include Teagan Alexander, PIRSA BBO on bio security and Norm Pope who has over 40 years of beekeeping experienced in the Port Lincoln and Eyre Peninsula area.

All beekeepers welcome but the day will focus on hobby and new starters.

Bring your own protective clothing for opening hives.

2020 Annual Conference

The SAAA 2020 Annual Conference will be held at the Berri Hotel in the Riverland, on Thursday 11th June to Friday 12th June 2020.

We have a number of excellent speakers talking about current and interesting topics. We also have a number of excellent sponsors ready to inform you about their latest products and services.

For those members that want to book their accommodation early and get the discounted delegate rate, check out the Nov-Dec or Jan-Feb editions of the Buzz for details.

Registrations and payments will not be accepted on the day. All registrations and payments must be finalised by the closing date.

There will be several raffles on the night with beekeeping related prizes and a hand made quilt (Supporting the Geoff Cotton Memorial Award) to be won. There will also be at least one auction of a beekeeping starter kit, including hive, frames, suit, smoker and tools.

CMV Farms Orchard and Processing Facilities Morning Tour

Free for conference delegates

CMV have very kindly offered a couple of tours of their Riverland based Almond orchards and processing facilities.

The orchard part of the tour commences at 9.00am and will include a machinery display, orchard walk and talk explaining the growing season of the orchard and pollination requirements.

The processing plant part of the tour commences at 10.30am and includes a tour of the processing factory showing how the almonds are processed and package.

The tours are only open to delegates attending the 2020 Annual conference who have completed their registration and payment. Once this is complete, access to the tours will be automatically provided allowing delegates to register.

Please note that numbers are strictly limited and SAAA members will have first opportunity to book.

Note: Delegates will need to provide their own transport from the Berri Hotel to both the orchard and the processing plant. 

Full details of the addresses of both the orchard and processing plants, and relevant contact details, will be provided to registrants closer to the conference date.
